What is Biomass?

Do you have a steady supply of organic waste? If so, a biomass solution may allow you to save money, become energy independent, and contribute to a cleaner and healthier environment!

Biomass, simply put, is the transformation of organic material into fuel. This fuel (typically methane gas) can be used to power an electric generator providing both thermal and electric energy.

Almost any organic material can be used to generate power, including animal waste such as cow, horse, sheep or chicken manure, agriculture by-products such as corn, rice or wheat stalks, and purpose grown plant materials such as soybean, corn and high-calorie grasses.

Benefits of biomass generation include:

  1. Independence from outside suppliers and utility companies.
  2. Significant energy savings - as much as 30% to 50%!
  3. Conservation of our environmental resources.
  4. Protection from blackouts and outages.
  5. Qualification for energy rebates and tax incentives.
  6. Reduction in organic waste removal costs.
